5 Questions with….Jenna Wortham, New York Times & Girl Crush Zine

In my days of doing tech PR, I pitched Jenna A LOT. I stalked her on IM and hoped that she’d read the press releases I sent. I had so much fun emailing with her about food and music instead because Jenna is definitely one of those people who seems to be in the know about all things cool. She wrote this rad article about Turntable.fm (have you checked it out yet??). She’s covered Twitter extensively, and she’s always tweeting about great new bands, websites, and of course, news! She also recently launched a project after my own heart: Girl Crush Zine (Jennifer Egan as a contributor!!!). We’re thrilled she sat down to chat with us. So thrilled that we posted 6 questions instead of 5. Oops.

Name: Jenna Wortham
Location: Brooklyn, New York

What’s the single tastiest thing you’ve eaten this month? Fresh oysters from Salt Pond, Rhode Island at Fat Radish in New York.

What is your favorite food discovery of 2011? Pintxos, bar snacks in Spain that are are typically pieces of lightly toasted bread topped with a slice of cheese, cured meat, a stuffed pepper or a wedge of tortilla de patata. Oh and homemade cava, also discovered in Spain!

What is your favorite musical discovery of 2011? So far, SBTRKT, “4” by Beyonce, The Weeknd, MEN, Com Truise, The Suzan, The Drum, Theophilus London, Dominique Young Unique, MNDR, Panda Eyes, Frank Ocean.

Com Truise – Brokendate
The Weeknd – What You Need

Best Coast? Nothing comes close to the golden coast but New York has stolen my heart (for now, at least).

What’s in your pantry? Gummi bears, Chia seeds for salads, homemade blackberry jam, wheat pasta.

How do you listen to music? Like most people I know, right now, I’m obsessed with the service Turntable.fm. I put it on when I’m writing, bored late at night at home, doing backyard yoga, pretty much all of the time.

Don’t forget to check out other folks’s interviews including Joy the Baker, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, Caroline McCarthy, and Foodzie co-founder Emily Olson.
