Single Serving: Black Books – “Favorite Place”

Black Books - Aquarena

For a band that’s yet to release a full-length debut, Austin’s Black Books sounds amazingly fully formed. That’s even more surprising when you realize that the the band’s guitarist, Kevin Butler, recorded, mixed, and produced their last EP. That EP opens with a squelching wall of reverb-soaked guitar riffs to paint a psychedelic soundscape of sludgy, dripping melodies and soggy percussion on the track “Favorite Place.” It’s a beautiful jam that’s, not coincidentally, also slated to lift off the band’s self-titled debut LP which is scheduled for an October 1st release. Go ahead and take a listen to “Favorite Place” (and the rest of the Aquarena EP) below.

The Aquarena EP is available on 10″ black wax and limited to 500 copies.
