Mikal Cronin, who released one of our favorite albums of 2011, is back with a brand new album and we couldn’t be more excited. With it’s buoyant melody and jangle-pop acoustic guitar riffs, the album’s first single “Shout It Out” could easily prove to be the warmest, sunniest sounding pop rock jam we’ll hear all year. Not too far removed stylistically from the material on his debut, it’s a clean-cut garage rocker built upon a foundation of 60’s pop and 70’s psych. And, seriously, how smoking are those guitar riffs on the chorus? Pure fire. MCII is scheduled for a release on May 7 via Merge Records.
