Single Serving: Friends – I’m His Girl

I’ll admit it. I crushed hard the first time I heard the cut “I’m His Girl” by Brooklyn-based quintet Friends. Like crazy hard. The jam has a dark, spacious groove like a neon lit alley propelled by a sexy, rubbery bass line complimenting subtle keyboards embellishments and sparse, punchy percussion full of swagger and slightly menacing ambiance. It’s like merging some of my favorite elements of Blondie, Santigold and Cults all into one.  I’d previously managed to miss their excellent single “Friend Crush”, but if you haven’t heard it yet – it is equally swoon-worthy. You can stream both tracks below. The “I’m His Girl” single is set for an October 31st release, and will be available on both 7″ vinyl and digital download through Lucky Number.  Here is a link to the Bandcamp page.
