In 2013 Nashville native Winston Yellen (who records as Night Beds) released Country Sleep, a confident album full of folk-tinged, guitar driven tracks. He’s remained pretty quiet since, but recently dropped the new single “Me, Liquor and God” which signifies the beginning of a bold new sound for Night Beds.
The wistful melodies of songs like “Even If We Try” and “Ramona” remain, but the new track is more interested in M83-esque synths and drumbeats than quiet crooning. Yellen’s stunning voice even gets the auto-tune treatment. If this is any indication, Night Beds are sure to surprise with whatever comes next.
