New Zealand seems to have a never-ending supply of talent these days, the latest of which is the weird and wonderful duo Doprah. Their eponymous EP dropped this summer, and it’s finally (thankfully) made its way across the oceans and into our ears.
The first track off of the EP, “Stranger People,” lives up to the name with an otherworldly, genre-bending sound full of synth hooks and metallic jangles befitting a jogger with pockets full of change. Producer Steven John Marr and vocalist Indira Force accent the song with a dreamy male-female call and response. Call it trip hop, call it synth pop, call it what you will; just give it a listen.
