Single Serving: Marian Hill – One Time

Marian Hill - One Time

With influences ranging “from Ella Fitzgerald to Drake” Philly-based duo Marian Hill (producer Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol) are seriously sexy. For example, take a listen to this opening track from their new Play EP. A sparse, jazzy groove sets the stage for Gongol’s come-hither croon as she coos, “Boy, if you want to go, I would not mind. But I’m not the kind of drum you play one time.” It’s a smooth electro-r&b groove, but the jazz influence is unmistakeable. Thanks to our friend Jonathan K. for introducing me to them.

The EP is available from Bandcamp and you can name your own price.
