Whether you knew it or not, your Monday morning was begging me for some soul, so I’m more than happy to dish up this single from Chicago’s Willis Earl Beal. On this cut from his sophomore LP, Beal’s smoky croon rolls out over a sparse, rootsy rhythm built from little more than a simple beat and thinly strung guitar riff. Oh, and he’s joined by none other than Cat Power, so there’s that too. Take a listen.
Pre-order the album on limited-edition double LP from XL Recordings.
