Single Serving: Wheels On Fire – The Cherry Bomb EP

I’m feeling a little jealous of Athens, Ohio at the moment.  Even since I received this snarling, strutting rock ‘n roll gem from Kind Turkey Records, I haven’t been able to quit daydreaming about how rad it would be to hear the Athens-based Wheels On Fire rattle the floor boards at the Union in Athens.   Channeling the tried and true rock ‘n roll chops of The Kinks and Rolling Stones, this four-piece carve-out some fiery, tumbling lo-fi rockers that would pair beautifully with a shot-glass of pure swagger.  You can (and should!) buy their hand-numbered 7″ from Kind Turkey Records (first 100 are purple, and then the rest are black).

A few other thoughts: The Union in Athens is probably one of my favorite venues I’ve ever visited.  Cafe Du Nord & Great American Music Hall in SF are a few others.  What are yours?  And while you are at it – let me know what you think of Wheels On Fire – I’d love to hear your thoughts, and I’m sure the band and their label would to.
