Single Serving: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti – 'Round and Round'

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti began as a solo project for L.A. based musician Ariel Pink back in the early 2000’s, but following the release of a number of albums Ariel Pink’s backing band has grown into a full-band with the addition of keyboardist/guitarist Kenny Gilmore, drummer Aaron Sperske and guitarist Tim Koh. They are putting the final touches on their latest album which will be released on 4AD. ‘Round and Round’ is a limited edition 7″ that will precede the release of the album, and is scheduled for release itself on April 26th.

Opening with a round of 1980’s-style “nah nah nah” harmonies and a neon-sheened synthesizer ambiance, ‘Round and Round’ meanders through catchy pop verses and alternating melodies before returning again and again to one its soaring chorus as Pink sing’s “hold on” and “we’ll dazzle them all.” It’s a fun track, and a preview of what to look forward to from the new album.
