Kasey and Matthew are presently enjoying their honeymoon. Analysts from the National Security Agency have intercepted an encrypted message that once decoded suggested the couple may be heading towards the Andean northwest region of Argentina near the city of Salta. In light of these circumstances, today’s post is essentially a new and improved re-run: not at all unlike when a classic album gets remastered and re-released. If you liked it before, you’ll love it now. P.S. Completely new posts will resume in October!

As much as I love San Francisco, the weather can disappoint from time to time. We have foggy days, windy days, and of course the rainy season (still a few months away thankfully). These days can be a depressing – if not approached from the right perspective. The right perspective–of course–means treating yourself to good food and good music. For example, enjoying a bowl of hot, chicken soup can be one sure fire way to awaken your spirits on a cold, rainy day, and Kasey’s Mexican style chicken soup is a nice tasty alternative to a potentially boring traditional chicken soup. And since you’ll be looking for an equally creative musical pairing for your rainy day meal, I can highly recommend Burial’s Untrue.
Burial is a low-key dub-step producer from London. His two phenomenal full-length releases have received significant praise from music critics, and during the span of his relateively short career he has already worked with folks such as Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and the band Bloc Party. Untrue is his sophomore album–and it’s simply breathtaking. Ghostly vocal loops, ambient vinyl crackle, and intimate rolling rhythms blend together to form a sonically rich album that you’ll want to listen to from start to finish on your next rainy day or late night drive. It is a solid album from the opener to the final track, and the track I’ve provided below is pretty representative of what you can expect from the rest of the album. As always, I highly recommend actually buying the album and supporting the artist. You can grab this one on wax over at Insound.
