Mimicking Birds deserve your attention. Beginning as the humble home recordings of Portland, Oregon singer/songwriter Nate Lacy – the solo endeavor turned into a trio after Lacy signed with Glacial Pace, a record label run by Modest Mouse frontman, and fellow Pacific Northwesterner, Isaac Brock. With a band behind him, Lacy’s intimate and cerebral sounds are really able to take shape, and, as evidenced by the eponymous debut, the results are hypnotizing. After a four year absence the “Birds” are back with new album Eons, and if the pulsing and energetic sound of ‘Owl Hoots’ is any indication of what to expect, they won’t be flying under the radar much longer.
