Genre-bending Australian trio Movement are quickly making a name for themselves by combining dark house grooves with soulful, but warped, r&b crooning. Take a listen to their latest single “Ivory” for a little taste of what’s earning these kids the buzz. The slow-burning groove opens a little like a Four Tet/Burial collaboration with a dark electro pulse and some distorted vocal panning. Before long though a piano lead enters the stage alongside smoothly brittle vocals. They ice the cake with an unexpectedly gnarly, glam rock guitar solo that shimmers like those flittering, golden fireworks on the 4th of July. All and all, it’s a pretty breathtaking cut.
