Here it is! The July mix. It features the songs I’ve been listening to while enjoying the Summer sun and warmth (or at least the songs I listen to while dreaming about escaping the San Francisco fog). It is a pretty straight forward mix of happy, sunny pop tunes featuring a lot of the best tracks that I’ve promoted on Musical Pairings this month in addition to a few sneak peeks at upcoming posts. For example, Cults will probably be on repeat in our home for the next two months after witnessing their opening set for Maps & Atlases last weekend (pics and a video here). The same is true for Musical Pairings’ favorite Blackbird Blackbird after dancing it up at a small warehouse party at Sub-Mission he DJed last weekend in the Mission District (pic here). And like the rest of the music loving world I’ve been listening to a heavy dose of Big Boi’s latest album and the “All Summer” jam by Kid Cudi, Best Coast and Rostam from Vampire Weekend. Topped off with warmth-invoking good-time jams by Tennis, Hardmix, Niva, MillionYoung, Twin Sister, Dominant Legs, and Slow Animal; a new remix by Vodka & Milk; and a demo from the up and coming artist Innocent Wildlife – this is one summer mix you don’t want to miss. I can pretty much guarantee you’ll discover something new to love. I’d say it is as fresh and sweet as a summer peach!
