Single Serving: Dum Dum Girls – Heart of Stone (Raveonettes Cover)

Here is a new track from L.A.’s Dum Dum Girls: a muddy, catchy rock n’ pop cover of the Raveonettes’ song “Heart of Stone” featuring reverb-soaked harmonies and static-saturated lead guitar (via Pitchfork). If the name the Dum Dum Girls doesn’t ring a bell: they are an L.A. based girl group led by Dee Dee (a.k.a. Kristin Gundred) that recently signed to SubPop. I previously posted about their Jail La La 7″. Their full length is scheduled for a March 26, 2010 release, and is available for preorder from Sub Pop. The Sub Pop preorder includes a CDR containing five rare tracks. The album will be available two week earlier from Hozac on limited edition gold vinyl, and according to the Hozac twitter account, information regarding the Hozac preorder should be available this Friday.

Finally, if you still own a working cassette player (or just like collectibles), Dum Dum Girls just released a limited edition cassette (approx. 400 copies) titled “Blissed Out” of rare tracks (including the 5 on the pre-order CDR) that you can still order from Art Fag Recordings. Trust me, like most releases on that label (i.e. Best Coast’s 7″ singles) this will sell out mad fast – so don’t delay.
