Video: Or, The Whale – Rusty Gold (NSFW)

The rootsy ‘Rusty Gold’ is definitely one of the highlights from Or, The Whale’s eponymous sophomore album. In my review of the album I described it as “one of a number of tracks on the album that could be described as a ‘standout’ and begins with simple, acoustic strumming as guitarist/vocalist Alex Robins sings ‘my dog died and it broke my heart’ and continuing ‘now that she has been set free, I hope her ghost will visit me’ before waves of pedal steel flow over the tune.” The video features a sharp focus but shallow depth of field and has some of the earthy, mournful qualities of the song. It’s tastefully NSFW.
