Video: Beirut – Postcards From Italy

Happy Thanksgiving! Have you thought about what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving? I have. I’m thankful for my family, and I’m especially thankful for my new wife, Kasey. This is our first Thanksgiving together as husband and wife, and so to mark the occasion I’m posting the video for Beirut’s “Postcards From Italy.”

When we first started dating I used the portion of the song that begins at about 2:03 and continues until about 3:00 in this video as my custom ring tone for Kasey. At the time, I chose it because I loved the song. I honestly hadn’t put any thought into the lyrics that accompanied that portion of the song. Now, it just seems fitting, and we tend to think of it as “our song.” It was even our first dance at our wedding. Even the video seems fitting to me. I hope you enjoy it!

What a beautiful song! We have a similar story and are about to get married! We want this song for our first dance – but how did you dance to such an upbeat song? I would love to hear about or even see your first dance!!

  • We turned it into a sort of cross between a tango and swing dancing. There was a dip and a few spins involved. Unfortunately I don’t have a good video to share. Great choice for a first song though!
