The lovely and extremely talented Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, has released the enigmatic and sonically-improvisational first single from her upcoming full-length Strange Mercy. It’s definitely an intriguing preview of what is to come.  It’s scheduled for a September 13th release date.

  2. Single Serving: Washed Out – Within and Without

If, like me, you’ve found yourself wondering: “What ever happened to that nice Washed Out, fella?” then you may be happy to hear that his debut album is complete and is scheduled for a July 12 release via Sub Pop. It is titled Within and Without and we have the album opener and first single from it already. I know, I know, his first EP helped define the chillwave genre, and many critics have already declared the genre dead. That can’t be a good omen for Within and Without, right?  Maybe not, but if you ask me a genre ain’t nothing but a word. What is important always has been, and always will be, the quality of a musician’s music. If it’s good – it’ll find an audience.  I think that is true of this LP, and based on the ebulliently simmering “Eyes Be Closed” this should be something to look forward to.
