Turntable Kitchen :: April 2012 Mix

I love putting together our monthly mixtapes. It’s fun slowly compiling the tracks over the course of the month; it’s fun sequencing the tracks for the mix; and I love that “ah ha” moment when I realize the mix is finally done. All of the pieces for this one fell into play last night, and although I normally like living with my mixes for awhile before sharing them, this one just seemed ready to be set free. You’ll find lots of great new music from familiar artists like Aesop Rock, steffaloo, and Ty Segall and White Fence, but this mix is heavy on names that are pretty new around here. It’s pretty eclectic and, as a result, it’s also pretty flexible. Brew a Chemex of freshly roasted coffee and settle into it with a warm mug. Throw on your headphones and jam to the mix on your bike ride or commute to work. Or, as always, these fast tunes pair well with slow food and a craft brew or glass of red wine. Without question it’ll keep you cool until we start shipping out our Pairings Box collaboration with James Beard-nominated cookbook author Jeni of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home.

Speaking of which, we are accepting new subscribers for the Pairings Box at this time. They keep selling out like quick quick, and with the awesome surprises we have lined up this summer, you can bet they’re going to continue to go fast. Get ’em while you still can. Enjoy the mix!
