Single Serving: Keep Shelly in Athens – DIY

It’s been a good week for new singles.  This one is from Keep Shelly in Athens’ new Our Own Dream EP that will be released soon by Forest Family Records (follow that link to preorder the limited edition album if you haven’t already). Part Depeche Mode and part Dubnobasswithmyheadman-era Underworld, “DIY” is the second track we’ve heard from the new album and it may be one of the Athenian-duo’s most distinctive tracks yet. It rolls open with ominous repeating piano keys that lead into a densely layered melody built around a palette of diverse sonic textures that include dubby samples, brass horns and pounding rhythms. It’s safe to say that Our Own Dream EP is going to be quite good.

Thanks to Stereogum for debuting the track.
